Weed Control Facts – Winning the Battle of the Weeds

Keeping your landscape plantings, flower beds, and nursery crops free of weeds is a battle, but if you approach it with a strategic plan, you will prevail. In order to develop a plan, you first must understand how weeds work, and what kind of weeds you are dealing with.

Basically weeds grow either from seed, or they reproduce from their roots. As the roots grow outward from the parent plant, new plants sprout up from the lateral roots, creating more parent plants and the process continues and the weeds thrive. Weeds that tend to reproduce from the root are usually more difficult to control.

Weed control facts? Weeds are plants, and they function just like the desirable plants in your yard. They need water, sunlight, and nutrition to survive. Of these three key survival needs, the easiest one for a gardener to eliminate is sunlight. Through proper mulching you can eliminate the sunlight.

But first, let’s look at the steps you should go through before you mulch, then we’ll discuss the best mulching techniques to use. In order for your weed control efforts to be truly effective, you should do everything in your power to make your gardens as weed free as possible before you plant or mulch. There are a couple of ways you can go about this, either organically or with chemicals. I don’t like using chemicals, but I do use them for weed control, and I use them for pest control when necessary.

Caring For Orchids After Blooming

So you have been a successful orchid grower! Your plant has bloomed. The blooms lasted a long time. You cut some. The blooms were beautiful. But now what? How do you care for an orchid plant after it has bloomed to keep it healthy and to make sure that it blooms again?

When an orchid blooms and the blooms are from one to four months old and show signs of wilting or drying, it’s time to cut them off. First of all, make sure that you are using clean and sterilized tools. This will prevent any diseases that the tools may have been in contact with from spreading to this orchid. Then, using a knife or scissors, cut the flower stalk. There is controversy over whether to cut the stalk short a stalk or to leave it long. Many growers feel that cutting the flower stalk about an inch from the base will ensure that new blooms are as close to the last in size and beauty. If you were working with a small plant with 3 – 4 inch leaves, cut close like this so that the plant doesn’t bloom again right away and become weak. If your plant is large with nice thick, green leaves that are healthy looking, you can cut the flower stalk up high just above a node (a brown notch on the green stem) and just below the lowest bloom.

Why Commercial Pest Control Is Needed

When some people think of pest control they naturally think of rats, this is not the case in many cases. But what do people think of when they see a pest controller in the work place such as a supermarket or hotel or even a food outlet?

well, people will think that the place question may be dirty, and is probably not fit to eat or shop in, this is some how far from the truth (in some cases).

Commercial pest control is a legal requirement in some industries. A good and organised pest control company will not only save a supermarket money on stock that may be gnawed, it will also save them the embarrassment of their customers seeing any pests in the establishment.

Understanding the Different Types of Coated Steel

Main Product Groups

The most common coated steel products are metal coated steels. Their manufacture typically uses cold- rolled steel (although a small percentage is made from hot rolled coil or sheet) which is then coated with zinc or with tin. A further coating is often added to zinc-coated steel in a subsequent process step to produce colour-coated steels.

Zinc Coated Steels

There are several distinct types of zinc coating (or galvanizing). These are

  • Continuous hot dip galvanizing: in this process, a cold-rolled coil or sheet in immersed in a pot of molten zinc. A common manufacturing technique for hot dip galvanizing steel is the Sendzimir process (which uses a small quantity of aluminium in the coating). Continuous hot dip galvanizing is presently the most popular method of producing coated steels. Typical applications of these steels include construction (roofs, walls – often as sandwich panels), auto body components (exposed panels), fabrication (metal cabinet frames and walls), agriculture (outhouses, livestock buildings, silos), heating and ventilation (casings, air ducts); and it is very common for the galvanized steel to be further coated (see below) for many of these uses.

The Tale of My First Tattoo

Walter, Walter, lead me to the altar
And I’ll show you where I’m tattooed

Back in the thirties, when comedienne and music hall entertainer Gracie Fields sang her famous song, a tattooed woman would have been a rare sight indeed – and possibly the brunt of crude jokes and scandal.

Today, a tattoo on a woman is velocityhousing so commonplace that nary an eyebrow is raised. I didn’t locate any stats to prove my point, but it wouldn’t surprise me if more women are opting for body art than men these days. Or at least I suspect that could be the case in Vancouver, where I live.

Henna Plant and Henna Tattooing at a Female Stag Party

Henna tattooing was recently introduced and made famous in the US by Madonna, Demi Moore and placemyad a few other celebrities. The reverence for the henna, however, has been in existence probably ever since the first henna tree, or rather the first henna hedge, set its roots into the soil of the planet earth.

Henna is a shrub in its truest form and it can reach a height of six yards. The henna plant blossoms in very fragrant white or rose red flowers and the species is sometimes classified under the name of Lawsonia alba Lam. or Lawsonia ruba.

This writer first learned of henna a few decades ago, when she was invited to a henna night in Southwestern Turkey. Henna night is sort of a female stag party, usually scheduled to take place the night before the wedding or a couple of days earlier when the women get together and paint each other’s hands and toes with henna. The henna night is famous for the camaraderie of women and the constant girlish giggling even among the matronly set. The party is akin to the girls night out, not just with henna painting but with the food, drinks, and a lot of fun.

Tattos for Women? You Bet!

It’s not really known how long tattooing has been around but it’s quite possibly as long as 12,000 years ago and we do know the ancient Egyptians practiced the art of tattooing.

One may think the art of tattooing removal has its history mainly with men. Not so. Women from various cultures tattooed their bodies for a variety of reasons. Take the women from Borneo. They would mark themselves to show what they were skilled at, such as weaving or a gatherer of medicinal herbs. This communicated their rank as marriage material. In western Asia, girls were marked in such a way as to show their place in society.

Tattooing has gone through its ups and downs over the centuries, has even been banned many times in different cultures for periods of time. It appears that tattooing will never really go away. During periods of a ban it seems to go underground until such time it is free to resurface.

Tattooing, (which is a Tahitian word meaning “to be marked”) in some cultures, has only the women being allowed to do the markings.

An All Natural Alternative To NSAIDS

Looking for an all natural alternative to NSAIDS for your pain relief? Consider hemp CBD supplements and topicals (applied to the skin). In June 2015, the FDA reviewed new safety information on prescription and OTC NSAIDS, and strengthened warning labels for non-aspirin nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drugs (NSAIDS). The new safety information included observational studies, clinical trials, and other scientific publications. The warning labels were strengthened to reflect the new information such as: cbd oil
– The risk of heart attack or stroke may increase with longer use of the NSAID.
– The risk increases with higher doses.
– As early as the first weeks of using an NSAID, the risk of heart attack or stroke can occur.
– There is an increased risk of heart failure with the use of NSAIDS.

An all natural alternative for pain relief, hemp CBD (cannabidiol), is a non-toxic, non-psychoactive, and beneficial compound found in cannabis. Research is showing empirical and subjective evidence of the benefits of cannabidiols (CBDs). NORML and ProjectCBD are two sources disclosing prior and recent publishings of empirical and subjective studies on the benefits and efficacy of CBDs. When it comes to aches and pains, as humans we all have our individual levels or thresholds of pain and discomfort. Subjective studies are showing that patients receiving large doses of CBDs are reporting relief of pain, discomfort, depression, and anxiety. Some patients report they’re experiencing relief at 10 mg of CBDs per dose, while others needed as much as 25, 50, or even 100 mg of CBD per dose to achieve relief. There is empirical evidence to support the subjective studies’ findings.

To clarify, cannabis is the genus of three species of plants, indica, sativa, and ruderalis. Cannabis sativa has two strains- hemp and cannabis sativa. Hemp is a strain of cannabis sativa that humans have cultivated and bred to have little to no THC (the psychoactive compound in cannabis), and has been used for food, fuel, medicine and fiber for thousands of years. Hemp and its compounds are legal in all 50 states and is why you can buy CBD-infused products in the United States. Cannabis sativa, however, is still illegal because of its high THC content. There is no difference in CBD from hemp vs CBD from cannabis sativa. Cannabis sativa is used for daytime because of its energizing and cerebral effects (like having a caffeine buzz) and will get you high due to the high amounts of THC, but hemp will not- because it has little to no THC. Indica dominant strains affects your physical body and is why some claim to get “couch lock”, you get so relaxed and high you can hardly move.

Fiber Optic Cables

Each fiber optic cable guide includes a radius limiting portion that prevents fiber optic cables from being bent beyond their minimum bend radii. The fiber optic cables have clear advantages over the copper cables. There is more security, and the fiber optic cables are more reliable than any other wire available. The fiber optic cable is in the high voltage environment. Dry-band voltage of the polluted sheath’s surface of the all-dielectric self-supporting fiber optic cable is analyzed in this paper.

The fiber optic cable 700, shown in FIG. The FIMT core 702 includes an inner tube 706 surrounding one carmit or more optical fibers 708. The fiber optic cable is the main choice for high speed Internet connections and the primary material used for country to country or continent to continent Internet connections. By moving the connection type from copper to fiber optics it will allow the DisplayPort to achieve higher bandwidths which are necessary for HDTV playback and if you consider that there are a lot of games that you can play over the Internet, streaming them through the DisplayPort directly to your LCD TV might be one option the industry is going to take in the near future. The fiber optic cable can be installed easily from point to point, passing right next to major sources of EMI with no effect. Conversion from copper networks is easy with media converters, gadgets that convert most types of systems to fiber optics.
